# CCXCVI…Vixen’s Surprise…

The title of this post is due to the fact that two members of hair metal pioneers Vixen, the all-female rocking group from the late eighties, were born coincidentally on this date in 1962. ┬áRockers Janet Gardner (vocalist, from Alaska) and Roxy Petrucci (drums, from Michigan) spent the years from 1982 until recently rocking the universe with hits like “Edge of a Broken Heart” and “Cryin'” and, hopefully soon (just because of their place in the pantheon) should end up in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Unfortunately, on a quick side note, they cannot reunite as the originals, which is due to the fact that guitarist Jan Kuehnemund has succumbed to cancer (2013), which is a tragedy in the music world that will always be remembered.

Also celebrating today are such notable individuals as late singer Nat King Cole (1919-1965), former MLB manager Cito Gaston (1944), former “Dallas” star Patrick Duffy (1949), mega-super actor Kurt Russell (1951), actor and bassist Gary Sinise {yes, “Lieutenant Dan”} was born in 1955 and actor Arye Gross, who played in a host of movies in his career, was born in 1960.

The ubiquitously annoying Rob Lowe was born in 1964, Smashing Pumpkins vocalist Billy Corgan was born in 1967, soccer star Mia Hamm (1972), late WWE superstar Andrew “Test” Martin (1975-2009) and former TNA multi-champion Samoa Joe was born in 1979.
