# CDXXIX…”Holy Cow!”…

If you are celebrating September 25th as your birthday, and if he were alive today, you share a birthday with one of the greatest New York Yankees to ever don a uniform; former shortstop and # 10, everyone’s favorite “huckleberry”, Phil Rizzuto (1917-2007).  The quotes around the above word refer to two things…in spite of being one of his favorite “catchphrases”, it was the name of a cow that he was presented with (date cited below) for the post covered in my book…

# cxlv…My Place in Yankee History…True Story…

In case you’re celebrating September 25th as your birthday, you also share it with late New York Yankees’ shortstop Phil Rizzuto (1917-2007), who, on August 6, 1984, was honored at the old Yankee Stadium for his career in pinstripes.  The reason that date resonates with me is because I was there to witness it…it was the date that former New York Met legend Tom Seaver won his 300th game!  Also, on a side note, former White Sox legend Ron Kittle hit a double to left field in the game…that bounced not too far from where I was sitting.

Although his playing career had ended way before I caught his name (he was a broadcaster for the team when I was a child), his years as a broadcaster, in an odd musical connection, can be found in the middle of the Meatloaf classic, “Paradise By the Dashboard Light”…I should know because, at one point, I had it memorized.  Although I could never really mimic his pizazz, I admire his contribution to my memories…and his place here.

Also born with whomever is celebrating are/were; late first Trinidad & Tobago Prime Minister Eric Williams (1911-1981), television journalist Barbara Walters (1929), “Fatal Attraction” (among others) co-star Michael Douglas (1944), model/actress Chery Tiegs (1947), ‘Luke Skywalker’ (and The Joker on the animated “Batman” series’) Mark Hamill (1951), NBA southpaw Bob McAdoo (1951) and late “Superman” Christopher Reeve (1952-2004).

Finishing today’s celebrity twins are; actress Heather Locklear (1961), former Chicago Bulls’ legend Scottie Pippen (1965), comedian Hal Sparks (1969), actress Catherine Zeta-Jones (1969) and former NFL quarterback Matt Hasselbeck was born in 1975.
