# CDXXII…Excerpt for Dimebag (1966-2004)…

While I am working on more “projects”, I figured I would drop in to honor one of the greatest guitarists of all time on his birthday, Dimebag Darrell from Pantera…as explained in my book (on sale for Kindle apps LOL)…

# cxxi…Late Influential Guitarist, Missed Greatly…

Today’s date, August 20th, is the birthday of late Pantera/Damageplan guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott (1966-2004), whose legacy in the rock-n-roll industry is unmatched and untouchable.  After growing to prominence with the iconic metal band Pantera, however, it was during one of his performances with a side project, named Damageplan, that a crazed fan, who was apparently taking his “frustrations” with the guitarist’s supposed “influence” on his life, assassinated him during a live show…the fan was killed on the spot…thereby ending the guitarist’s then-25 year career.

A well-respected guitarist due to his unique sound and playing style, his marks are all over every metal station in the country; on a side note, as well, he teamed with former country legend David Allen Coe to fund a one-album (unfortunately due to his demise) project called Rebel Meets Rebel…an album that I possess and can tell you that, if Dimebag hadn’t died, would have had a huge following and follow-up!

A light of the universe that will be missed until the end of time…RIP Dimebag…

Also celebrating with the late guitarist (and you, of course) are/were; late Gateway Arch designer Eero Saarinen (1910-1961), boxing promoter legend Don King (1931), late R & B crooner/actor Isaac Hayes (1942-2008), former Yankees’ third baseman Graig Nettles (1944), journalistic icon Connie Chung (1946), Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant (1954) and weatherman extraordinaire Al Roker was born in 1954.

Former “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (TV) and “Smallville” villain James Marsters (1962), Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst (1970), actress Amy Adams (1974), “Supernatural” co-star Misha Collins (1974), WWE commentator Byron Saxton (1981) and singer Demi Lovato (1992) finish this date’s list.

With another post out of the way, I bid you adieu until next time…and, as always…

# CDXXI…{#shouldbeanationalholiday}…

As noted on this blog in the past, today’s date happens to have been designated (since 1976) as International Lefthanders Day…which is great news for me and whomever happens to be in the minority with me.  With such names on the list of other southpaws; actors/actresses (Bruce Willis, Seth Rogen, Hugh Jackman, etc.), sports stars (Steve Young, LeBron James, Joey Logano {NASCAR}, Randy Johnson, etc.) and other prominent members of society, like musicians (Sir Paul McCartney, Dick Dale, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Billy Corgan, Zacky Vengeance, Faith Hill, Crystal Gayle, Billy Ray Cyrus, etc.), writers (me [LOL], Stan Lee, Douglas Adams, Matt Groening, and R.L. Stein, among others) and directors (James Cameron, Spike Lee, Joss Whedon and Chris Nolan), you’d have thought that we’d have SOMETHING that was designed on this planet just for us.

Maybe people like Barack Obama, George Bush Sr., Bill Clinton, Prince William, Rand Paul and the like can get on that for sometime in my lifetime…as if that would ever happen (it really should though LOL)…

Anyhow, also to note to you is the fact that if you find my “Blogroll” (depending on the device you’re using), I have a direct link to my book…please visit, as there will be more to come (I promise!)…and, with southpaw pride (Hi Cousin Ray!!), I bid you farewell…until next time…

# CDXX…One Year in Heaven…Fredrick V. Johnson (1964-2015)…

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been a year since my musical mentor and brother, Fred, passed away after his valiant effort against the dreaded cancer that took his life but not his infectious spirit.  This date, August 8th, will forever be remembered on this blog for the insidious memory that it now holds.  However, I would also like to take this time to reflect on the wonderful memories he left on my life.

From our earliest sojourns to various iconic clubs as L’Amour (in Brooklyn) and the famed Studio 1 (Newark, NJ) to stadiums like for RockStar Mayhem (PA) and Metallica (Giants Stadium), I have plenty of vivid memories of shows and interacting with local legends.  Also fondest of my memories were plenty of baseball games at the old Yankee Stadium and Shea Stadium…never a dull day when my brother was involved!  His infectious smile and outgoing demeanor were enough to make anyone optimistic and enjoy his presence.

On this first anniversary without him, I am reminded that all time on this planet is short…we should be thankful that the Powers-That-Be put us here and to love our fellow human beings, something my brother deeply believed in…although there were times when he questioned the intelligence of our species!

# CDXIX…(419)…For My ‘Mate…

For those just joining me here on this blog, August 7th is the date on the calendar that my ex-wife (and soulmate) JoAnn joined the human race back in 1973.  As she has been in my life for the last twenty-something years, it seems only fitting that this first post of August 2016 would be for her honor (I’ve actually been slacking on here only due to the fact that I am trying to work on more “projects”).

Although recent events in her history have not gone her way, I would just like to make it known that, no matter what happens, she will always hold a place in my heart and forever be linked to this date, regardless of the evil stigma that she thinks is in place (post tomorrow should explain that…) in the universe.  She is a brilliant individual with a gigantic heart and a kind soul that is still in my life (thankfully) and a beautiful mother to my two daughters (although the eldest isn’t technically hers), who deserves nothing but the best on her most special day.

As the universe tends to do, sometimes, it also happens to be the birthday of another close personal friend…Sandra…whose presence in my life is also noted here, due to the prevalence in my life during the worst period of my life (my last six years in Jersey City).  She and her family were kind ears to my “issues” being faced before I left and, without her and her family, I don’t know if things would have turned out this way.

As for their “twins”; former Yankee hurler (only no-hitter in World Series’ history) Don Larsen (1929), country legend B.J. Thomas (1942), southpaw acting phenom John Glover {“Smallville”s Lionel Luthor} (1944), former “Sledge Hammer!” star David Rasche (1944), veteran actor Wayne Knight (1955) and iconic Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson was born in 1958.

Also celebrating this beautiful Summer day are; former “X-Files” and “Californication” star David Duchovny (1960), former baseball star Edgar Renteria (1975), actress Charlize Theron (1975), Hatebreed (metal giants) frontman Jamey Jasta (1978), actor Cirroc Lofton {“Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”} (1978), “Smallville” alum Eric Johnson (1979) and my least favorite hockey player, only because of his teams’ win against my Sharks, Mr. Sidney Crosby, celebrates his 29th today (1987).

On a side note, I would just like to add that, if you look on my page for my “Blogroll” section (as it varies depending on which device you’re perusing), you should find the direct link in which to purchase my book, “/,,,/ ROCK ON DUDEZ \,,,\” {Kindle/Kindle apps only} directly from Amazon.  I only bring this up due to the fact that, even after all of the promoting that I’ve <as well as my family and friends> have done, very few have paid attention and sales are not good (at this time)!

Until tomorrow…
