# CDI…RIP in Heaven, Year One; Fred Johnson (1964-2015)…

As many of you already know, if you’ve followed this blog since the beginning, this date of April 17th would have been the 52nd birthday of my late brother Fred Johnson, who was unceremoniously taken from us this past August.  Rather than dwell on the memories that have been lost due to the unfortunate, I would just like to make a few statements on the man’s presence on life in general.

My brother was always the optimist and, unless you really did something to earn his ire, he never had a bad word about anyone.  He had been a great father (as made evident by his children’s actions and behavior), a wonderfully uplifting friend (just ask the many non-family members whose lives he’s touched) and a brother that I wouldn’t have traded anything for.  Most of the posts on this blog would not have happened if it weren’t for life experiences that I’ve had while being in his enlightening company…with all of the concerts that we’d been through and his almost similar eclectic taste in music that we shared, I have millions of fond memories that will leave a giant impression on my writings for years to come.

On a side note, it is also the birthday of a former co-worker (who’s been mentioned here before…Happy birthday, Suzana) and, on an odd timeline coincidence, his birthday also coincides with the release date for the Ford Mustang (“born” on April 17, 1964).  It is because of things like this that I am still trying to go forward despite all of the heartbreaking events, as he never would have settled for idling.

Always and forever in our hearts…we love you and miss you, Big Brother and ROCK IN PEACE!!!

As this site has been a place for celebrity birthdays, today’s date is no exception; late journalist Harry Reasoner (1923-1991), “Miami Vice” theme composer Jan Hammer (1948), late wrestling icon “Rowdy” Roddy Piper (1954-2015), New York-born southpaw quarterback Boomer Esiason (1961), former NHL great Ken Daneyko (1964) and Tool/A Perfect Circle frontman Maynard James Keenan was born on the same date as my brother, as well (1964).

Former baseball talent Marquis Grissom (1967), singer Liz Phair (1967), rapper/actor Redman (1970), talented actress Jennifer Garner (1972), singer Victoria Beckham (formerly Posh Spice) was born in 1974 and actress Rooney Mara (most notable from the American version of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”) celebrates her 31st today (1985).

With this first post for my brother, post-mortem, out of the way, you might see me tomorrow (because it’s been covered before…) but, if not, you will definitely find me here on Tuesday…don’t know why LOL…

      • While reading this beautiful tribute to Freddie, the tears rolled down my face just thinking of what a kind, sweet hearted man Freddie was. I met Freddie several years ago when he was providing roadie, assembling and all-around amazing assistance to WDFA. At the time, I was the girlfriend of the band’s drummer, Danny Edell. From the first moment I met Freddie, he was warm and caring and made you feel you were the most important person in the room! If you were depressed, or having a shitty day, his encouragement and hugs would comfort your soul. We had many discussions about metal music and were planning to go to a show together after I parted ways with Danny. Freddie’s kindness, empathy and wonderful personality will remain in my heart and soul forever. He will never be forgotten. RIP Freddie.

Freddie was one of the kindest, most caring menI have ever had the honor to know. We became friendly when I met him at one of WDFA’s shows in Long Island. At the time, I was engaged to my ex-fiancee, Danny Edell-the band’s drummer. Freddie always had a big smile for me, a warm embrace and a love of metal music that rivaled my own. After I broke up with Danny, I saw Freddie again when WDFA played at Blackthorn 51 in Queens. As always, he made me feel that I was the most important person in the room. Sweet soul-your spirit and beautiful heart shine on in my heart and mind. You will always be missed and never forgotten!
