If you’ve been with me so far, and can remember back that far (which is sometimes VERY hard for me LOL), April 28, 2016 marks the one-year anniversary since I quit gambling of any kind (it’s hard to miss…I’ve been counting since Month 7, I believe) and I must say that things are starting to finally become crystal clear. I really shouldn’t be announcing it but not all therapies are anonymous…and I’ve done pretty well for a former alum of G.A. but haven’t been to a meeting in about twenty years.
This past year’s abstinence, however, is just me and my will power (seems I have a lot more than I give myself credit for, to be honest). I have had instances where I was presented with cards containing my nemeses (plural of nemesis) but, according to the “rulebook”, I had not purchased them so the streak is intact! The Powers-That-Be seemed to have blessed me in ways I cannot describe…I am truly starting to believe (finally) that this is my calling (I’ve wanted to be a writer for years, mind you…it was only four short years ago that I found my way to World Wide Web!)
With a little bit of luck and a lot more blessings, we’ll continue this wonderful abstinence conversation later…in the meantime, please enjoy this little tidbit from my “project”…
# lxi…Favorite TV Show Memories…
On this date, April 28th, actress Kari Wuhrer was born in 1967. The reason that this name means so much to me is because of her prevalence in my life of television watching. More specifically her first starring role, on MTV’s “Remote Control”, and her three years of playing Maggie Beckett on the hit TV show, “Sliders”, which were during my late 20’s and early 30’s.
With an almost 30 year career under her belt, you have probably seen her in a lot of the B-movies and TV shows that are as diverse as they are in numbers. She is also a voice-over actress as well as a singer. Her three year run at the end of “Sliders” was filled with her great acting range, from anger and happiness, to heartache and despair, with such grace as only she could provide in the role.
Also celebrating today are; late auto magnate Ferruccio Lamborghini (1916-1993), late “The Addams Family” matriarch Carolyn Jones (1930-1983), late global despot Saddam Hussein (1937-2006), actress/dancer Ann-Margret (1941), actor/former talk show host Jay Leno (1950) and news anchorwoman Rosanna Scotto (popular in metropolitan area) was born in 1958.
Today is also the birthdate of; former baseball superstar Barry Larkin (1964), Insane Clown Posse’s Violent J (1972), actress Penelope Cruz (1974), former New Orleans Saints’ Scott Fujita (1979), former wrestler Alex Riley (1981) and the always stunning Jessica Alba was born in 1981.
Thanks for coming…I should be back tomorrow…big day tomorrow is…
