# CCCXCVI…Abstinence Update/Birthday List…

Today, March 21st, marks the 330th consecutive day in which I haven’t gone through any gambling of any kind (real-life or otherwise).  Although this is somewhat monumental, in the fact that I’ve almost reached the year mark, the real momentous occasion will come once some more behind-the-scenes moments come together (details coming…)!

Since you’re here, I may as well relay the birthday twins’ list (if you happen to be celebrating your birthday today; late superstar actor Sir Anthony Hopkins (1921-2014), late actor/singer James Coco (1930-1987), former “James Bond”, Timothy Dalton (1944), singer Eddie Money (1949) and ‘Supertramp’ vocalist/keyboardist Roger Hodgson was born in 1950.

Multi-talented actor Gary Oldman (1958), Stryper drummer Robert Sweet (1960), Stray Cats’ drummer Slim Jim Phantom (1961), uber-talented actor Matthew Broderick (1962), comedienne/actress Rosie O’Donnell (1962), Vixen bassist Share Pedersen (1963), late wrestler Chris Candido (1972-2005), Dope frontman Edsel Dope (1974) and actor/rapper Kevin Federline was born in 1978.

Thanks for being patient…I have been trying to sell my manuscript…more original posts to come…

# CCXCVI…Vixen’s Surprise…

The title of this post is due to the fact that two members of hair metal pioneers Vixen, the all-female rocking group from the late eighties, were born coincidentally on this date in 1962.  Rockers Janet Gardner (vocalist, from Alaska) and Roxy Petrucci (drums, from Michigan) spent the years from 1982 until recently rocking the universe with hits like “Edge of a Broken Heart” and “Cryin'” and, hopefully soon (just because of their place in the pantheon) should end up in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Unfortunately, on a quick side note, they cannot reunite as the originals, which is due to the fact that guitarist Jan Kuehnemund has succumbed to cancer (2013), which is a tragedy in the music world that will always be remembered.

Also celebrating today are such notable individuals as late singer Nat King Cole (1919-1965), former MLB manager Cito Gaston (1944), former “Dallas” star Patrick Duffy (1949), mega-super actor Kurt Russell (1951), actor and bassist Gary Sinise {yes, “Lieutenant Dan”} was born in 1955 and actor Arye Gross, who played in a host of movies in his career, was born in 1960.

The ubiquitously annoying Rob Lowe was born in 1964, Smashing Pumpkins vocalist Billy Corgan was born in 1967, soccer star Mia Hamm (1972), late WWE superstar Andrew “Test” Martin (1975-2009) and former TNA multi-champion Samoa Joe was born in 1979.

# CLXI…# 88’s Birthday (A Young 29)…

Dal's Music Note$

This short, Sunday morning post (since I don’t currently have a New York Times [love the crossword on Sunday LOL]) is brought to you due to the fact that it is the 29th birthday of current San Jose Sharks’ winger/defender Brent Burns (obviously 1985 birth).  Being a member of this year’s (currently) second-place Sharks, his is better known for his time with our dreaded conference mates, the Minnesota Wild, where he racked up 54 goals in six seasons (productive when he was not in the penalty box).

Also on the list for today are rapper/actor Bow Wow (1987), former WWE diva champ Melina (1979), the lilliputian star of “Webster” from 1983, Emmanuel Lewis (1971), former Seattle Seahawks’ linebacker/actor Brian Bosworth and journeyman MLB catcher Benito Santiago were born in 1965, the iconic wrestler Rick Steiner was born in 1961, and former IndyCar superstar Danny Sullivan was born in 1950.

# CLX…Out Of Their Shadow…

Dal's Music Note$

It was on this date in 1963, in a little town known as Battle Creek, Michigan, that former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted was born into this world.  He was the core bassist for the group after the late Cliff Burton was prematurely taken from us in 1986 until his departure in 2001.

Upon leaving the band, however, he did have a string of bands that he went on to play bass for (most notably being Robert Trujillo’s replacement with Ozzy Osbourne, after Trujillo signed on with Metallica).  Starting his career with the metal band Flotsam and Jetsam, he later (after Metallica) played with Ozzy and also with the band Voivod (playing bass with the three original members) as well as being involved in a short-lived reality show called “Rock Star Supernova”.

It is his current endeavor, however, that earns him the title of this post…if you check out Post #…
