# CCCLXXXVIII…Nine Months Strong…

As today, January 21st, marks my 270th consecutive non-gambling day, and a date on this blog that hasn’t been covered…I now present today’s birthday twins, direct from my “project”…

xi…Howlin’ Birthday in Heaven…

Today, January 21st, would have been the birthday of one of the greatest DJ’s you’ve probably never heard of…the iconic, raspy-voiced icon known as Wolfman Jack (1938-1995).  As a child of the 80’s, I mostly remember this multi-talented icon for his cartoon show, “Wolf Rock TV”, from when I was a teenager in 1984.  Being that I was brought up in a household of children of the 40’s and 50’s, however, I was aware of Wolfman Jack long before that Saturday morning respite.

His voice was so suited for his stellar career and, maybe in another lifetime (as I’ve had experience with homemade “radio” recordings), I might have emulated him just because of his distinct personality.  His nocturnal broadcasts will forever live in the archives of radio and his style was one-of-a-kind…RIP in Heaven to Wolfman Jack…HOWLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!

Also born on this howling date are; late acrobat Karl Wallenda (1905-1978), the bald star of the hit 60’s show, “Kojak”, the late Telly Savalas (1922-1994), late brilliant British comedian Benny Hill (1924-1992), late “Superman” Steve Reeves (who was mentioned in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”, as well) {1926-2000}, golf legend Jack Nicklaus (1940) and opera star Placido Domingo was born in 1941.

Late music icon Richie Havens (1941-2013), former wrestling superstar Ivan Putski (who I grew up watching perform) was born in 1941, actress Jill Eikenberry (from “L.A. Law”) was born in 1947, Trinidadian singer (and 80’s icon) Billy Ocean was born in 1950 and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen was born in 1953.

Finishing this long list are; “Beetlejuice” actress Geena Davis (1956), NBA star Hakeen Olajuwon (1963), late Rap pioneer Jam Master Jay (1965-2002), the actress portraying Mama Smoak on “Arrow”, Charlotte Ross (1968), Spice Girl Emma Bunton (1976) and Los Angeles Kings’ goalie (hisssssssss…sorry, Sharks fan, you know) Jonathan Quick was born in 1986.
