# CCCLXXXII…Brother-in-Law’s AND Astronomy’s Milestones…

On this festive and unseasonably warm (for New York standards) Christmas Day of 2015, it is with odd pleasure that I get to inform you of two milestones today.  Firstly, my brother-in-law Steve Houmis, who is almost a regular on this blog, is celebrating his monumental 45th birthday today (1970).  In a unique twist, however, tonight will grace us with an occurrence that is a super-rarity on Christmas; a bright, glowing Full Moon (which, according to the “experts”, won’t occur again until 2032!)

In addition, as we all celebrate this joyous occasion with family and friends, I would like to shout-out to those no longer with us (my brother Fred, who will be missed on this, our first year without his presence; good friends Flo and Catherine and others that I may have missed) and to all the servicemen and women who keep this glorious country from harm, who cannot be home to be with their loved ones.

I thank you for reading this blog this year (as it appears to be my best year ever)…and I wish everyone reading a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah, Happy Kwanzaa and Feliz Navidad…may you all receive the blessings that you wish for and more!

The birthday twins, as presented last year, are/were; late acting superstar Humphrey Bogart (1899-1957), jazz legend Cab Calloway (1907-1994), former Egyptian leader Anwar Sadat (whose assassination was big news when I was growing up) {1918-1981}, “Twilight Zone” creator Rod Serling (1924-1975), actress Mabel King, from the hit show “What’s Happening!” (1932-1999), former Saints’ quarterback Ken Stabler (1945) and singer Jimmy Buffett (“Margaritaville”, etc.) and footballer Larry Csonka were born in 1946.

Continuing the expansive list are; country sensation Barbara Mandrell (1948), “Carrie” and “Coal Miner’s Daughter” star Sissy Spacek (1949), veteran actress C.C.H. Pounder {“NCIS: New Orleans”} was born in 1952, singers Annie Lennox and Steve Wariner (1954), former baseball speedster Rickey Henderson (1958), “Black Velvet” songstress Alannah Myles (1958) and NHL journeyman Jim Dowd (a New Jersey native that won a Stanley Cup with his home team, the Devils) was born in 1968.

In an odd finish, pop singer Dido, who was sampled in Eminem’s hit “Stan”, was born in 1971, former TNA tag team champion Chris Harris (1973) and keyboardist of the symphonic metal masters Nightwish, Mr. Tuomas Holopainen, was born in 1976.

Again, thank you for gracing me with your views…yours are the only “presents” I am wishing for and, as my project nears completion, the only wish I have for this upcoming year is to make my “side project” succeed…which I have no doubt it will!
