# CCCLVIII…Birthday Number 36 for “Number 12″…

For all of today’s birthday twins, September 15th is also the birthday of current San Jose Sharks’ center/left winger Patrick Marleau (1979).  Although this may not mean much to normal folks, the reason behind his inclusion on this list is very simple; in this world, where free agency now limits the tenure of a player with one team, Patrick Marleau was drafted by San Jose in 1997 (behind # 1 pick and current teammate Joe Thornton) and, as he’s already been signed through 2017, hopefully will continue through the end of that…which would mark his 20th year with the team.

A multi-time All Star and Gold Medalist, he also has 15 categories of leadership (especially Goals, Even Strength Goals and Power Play Goals) which he owns or has tied.  He is also just one of ten players to reach 1300 games with one team (although 55 others have done it with more than one), which in this day and age where money talks is a major accomplishment.

I’m hoping that this year, which will be San Jose’s 25th year, that we can finally get him (and his teammates, of course) the championship that they so rightly deserve!  Many happy more to you, “Captain”…

Also on this list of twins are/were; late famed explorer Marco Polo (1254-1324), late authoress Agatha Christie (1890-1976), late singer Roy Acuff (1903-1992), late “King Kong” actress Fay Wray (1907-2004), late comedian/actor Nipsey Russell (1918-2005), late actor Jackie Cooper (1922-2011), veteran comedian Norm Crosby (1927) and former baseball pitcher Gaylord Perry was born in 1938.

Former football player-turned-actor/sportscaster Merlin Olsen (1940-2010), veteran actor Tommy Lee Jones (1946), superstar director/producer Oliver Stone (1946), former WWE manager Teddy Long (1947), Seattle Seahawks’ coach Pete Carroll (1951), former quarterback legend Dan Marino (1961), The Misfits’ guitarist Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein (1964) and Tom Hardy, who played Max in the film “Mad Max: Fury Road”, was born in 1979.

Don’t kill me for being a sports fan…it comes in handy on days like this…
