With another milestone post just around the corner, I thought I would pop in on a date in which I’ve already covered twice…the 71st anniversary of “Operation Neptune”, when the combined Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy, France, during World War II. It was during this phase of Operation Overlord that the outcome of the war was turned in favor of the Allied Forces and sent the megalomaniac to his ultimate downfall.
A huge shout-out to all the veterans (past, present and future) that were involved and thank you for your sacrifices on that date. For without your services on that date in 1944, we could have well seen a very different America today!
Those who were born on this date include; current TNA star Drew McIntyre (now known as Drew Galloway) was born in 1985, former My Two Dads co-star Stacy Keanan (1975), singer (and former sidekick) Uncle Cracker (1974), Lacuna Coil’s brilliant frontwoman Cristina Scabbia (1972) and actors Paul Giamatti and former Doogie Howser, M.D. co-star Max Casella were both born in 1967.
Former NHL great Cam Neely (1965), former wrestler Ahmed Johnson (no relation) was born in 1963, Slayer’s bassist, Tom Araya was born in 1961, guitar virtuoso Steve Vai in 1960 and actress Amanda Pays, who played scientist Tina McGee in the 1990s version of The Flash as well as in the current incarnation, was born in 1959.
Music producer Jimmy Jam (from the group The Time) was born in 1959, former tennis great Bjorn Borg (1956), actress/singer Sandra Bernhard (1955), veteran actor Harvey Fierstein (1952), everyone’s favorite “Freddy Krueger”, Mr. Robert Englund (1947), musician Gary U.S. Bonds was born in 1939 and late The Four Tops vocalist Levi Stubbs (who provided the voice of “Audrey II” in Little Shop of Horrors) would have turned 79 today (1936-2008).
Again, thanks to the veterans and we will continue to honor and cherish your sacrifices for this nation…
