# CCLXXXVIII…”Here Comes the Sun”…

If you weren’t aware, as I’m sure most of you aren’t, the title refers to one of the most popular songs fronted by the late, great Beatles guitarist George Harrison (1943-2001), who was born in Liverpool on this date in 1943.  Sitting at Number 11 of Rolling Stone magazine’s 100 Greatest Guitarists, he stayed out of the spotlight (for the most part) until his 1970 release, All Things Must Pass, which included the plagiarism-accused song “My Sweet Lord”, which was too close to The Chiffons’ song “He’s So Fine” that it was brought to court, which he was found guilty of “subconscious” plagiarism.

Also, his works with Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Lynne, as a member of The Traveling Wilburys, is forever cemented in music history and should definitely be in everyone’s collection, as that work is something magical.

Today is also the birthday of “Mr. Magoo”, Jim Backus (1913-1989), late tennis superstar Bobby Riggs (1918-1995), talk show hostess Sally Jessy Raphael (1935), journalist Bob Schieffer (1937), former multi-time champion of wrestling, the “Nature Boy” Ric Flair (1949) and sportscaster James Brown was born in 1951.

Also born today were former NFL player and current coach Jeff Fisher (1958), former New York Yankees’ southpaw Paul O’Neill (1963), comedian Carrot Top (1965), actress Tea Leoni (1966), actor/director Sean Astin (1971), late wrestler Sean O’Haire (1971-2014), Latin sensation Julio Iglesias, Jr. (1973), former wrestler Maria Kanellis (1982) and actress Tara Wilson was born in 1982.

To all celebrating today, may you have many more happy birthdays to celebrate…its part of what is keeping me here…and thank you!
