Today’s honoree is none other than the original female “Slider” from the five-season spectacular series, Sliders, Sabrina Lloyd (1970), who played the character in the title of this post for the first three seasons. One of the reasons that she (and not any of the other, more famous names) are spotlighted is because Sliders, when it was running from 1995 to 2000, was the equivalent of “Smallville”, “Arrow”, and “The Flash” for me; I would not want to be disturbed by anyone during these shows.
In case you want to do some digging, the show may not pique your interest, as it centers around four characters who bounce, or “slide”, between parallel earths using a device created by main character Quinn Mallory, played by veteran actor Jerry O’Connell, and the mischief and mayhem that comes with these parallel earths. It was a wonderful series that, if it were rebooted today, may have a broader audience.
As for Ms. Lloyd’s birthday twins, we start with the late Robert F. Kennedy (1925-1968), late actor/game show host Richard Dawson (1932-2012), singer Dick Smothers (of The Smothers Brothers) was born in 1939, late music guru Duane Allman (1946-1971), former guitarist for The Eagles, Mr. Joe Walsh (1947), and the Perfect “10”, Bo Derek, was born in 1956.
Also on the list are former NY Jets mainstay Mark Gastineau (1956), Marvel: Agents of SHIELD star Ming-Na Wen was born in 1963, The Beastie Boys’ drummer, Mike D, was born in 1965, and Dominique Dawes (gold medalist in 1996) was born in 1976.
Wondering if I am a successful writer in another dimension…
