Today marks the 24th birthday of Minnesota Timberwolves’ point guard, Ricky Rubio, a two-time gold medal winning player for my favorite basketball team (since their inception). A young, first round draft pick by the ‘Wolves in 2009, he has spent time in his native Spain honing his game so that, hopefully (and if he stays healthy) he and his fellow ‘Wolves can win their first title since becoming the Timberwolves (in case you didn’t know, the L.A. Lakers used to be in Minnesota).
He will be a key component to a rookie-infused lineup, which doesn’t include the other “traitor”, Kevin Love (like Kevin Garnett, who followed the scent of money instead of loyalty)…and I wish him many happy more birthdays!!! GO WOLVES!!!!
Also, today would have been the birthday of Cuban-American singer Celia Cruz (1924-2003); it is the birthday of “Trixie” from “The Honeymooners”, Joyce Randolph, who was born in 1924, “Judge” Judy Sheindlin (1942), the guitarist for the 80s diva band, The Go-Gos, Charlotte Caffey, was born in 1953, veteran actress Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) was born in 1956, Jade Jagger (yes, Mick’s daughter) was born in 1971 and the ubiquitous “princess”, Kim Kardashian, was born in 1980.
Thank you and, as usual…
