October 18, for those that are unaware, is the birthday of a true rock pioneer, Mr. Chuck Berry, who was born on this date in 1926. In his repertoire are the smash hits “Johnny B. Goode”, “Maybelline”, and, of course, the title of this post. He “duck walked” his way into the inaugural class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (deservedly so) in 1986 and his musical legacy will be around for years to come.
Also born on this date were late actor George C. Scott (1927-1999), “Everybody Loves Raymond” co-star (and Frankenstein from “Young Frankenstein”) Peter Boyle was born in 1933, “Gilligan’s Island”s Mary Ann, Dawn Wells (1938), former Chicago Bears (and New Orleans Saints) coach turned broadcaster Mike Ditka (1939), JFK assassin Lee Harvey Oswald (1939-1963) and journeyman actor Joe Morton was born in 1947.
Also, Pam Dawber (“Mindy” from Mork and Mindy) was born in 1951, Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory creator Peter Lorre (1952), former tennis pro Martina Navratilova (1956), Happy Days and Joanie Loves Chaci co-star Erin Moran (1960), action movie superstar Jean-Claude Van Damme (also 1960), and for the younger generation, professional skier Lindsey Vonn (1984), actor Zac Efron (1987) and Teen Wolf (the TV series) star Tyler Posey was born in 1991.
