Although I haven’t posted pictures of them, which I may at some point, today’s birthday post is about one of the most notorious “heels” (bad guys) in wrestling history; Nikolai Volkoff, who has been in the wrestling industry since 1970. Born in 1947 and as a member of the WWF in 1984, he and his partner, The Iron Sheik, garnered most of the bad guy vibe that went with them proclaiming that their respective countries were superior to ours. All of that precluded his eventual induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.
However, it was his appearance at a wrestling gathering in Jersey City which gave me the chance to get his autograph, which I only managed to grab when I saw him at his table…with no one surrounding him…so I made him the first of the four signatures that I got (other three will be named later).
Happy birthday, Nikolai…and many happy more…
