# CCXXXVIII…Sheri Moon Zombie…

Celebrating her 44th birthday today is the “First Lady of Horror Rock”, Sheri Moon Zombie, who has wowed audiences with her acting (as well as her appearances at her husband Rob’s many shows around the world.)  Originally and ironically, she had no interest in acting but with her appearances in movies like “House of 1000 Corpses” and both “Halloween” reboots, she has become synonymous with horror rock, even being touted as a “scream queen”.

Many happy more to Mrs. Zombie…

Also on today’s extensive list are late playwright T.S. Eliot (1888-1965), NASCAR creator Bill France, Sr. (1909-1992), late fitness guru Jack LaLanne (1914-2011), late country icon Marty Robbins (1925-1982), former Roxy Music frontman Bryan Ferry (1945), and country icon Lynn Anderson was born in 1947.

Star of such hit movies as “Grease” and “Xanadu”, Miss Olivia Newton-John was born in 1948, “The Terminator”s Sarah Connor, Linda Hamilton (1956), former White Zombie and Testament drummer John Tempesta was born in 1964, former bassist Sami Vanska of symphonic metal icons Nightwish was born in 1976 and tennis phenom Serena Williams celebrates her 33rd birthday today (1981).

# CCXXXVII…The Boss’ 65th, Belated…

After searching through today’s list (which I will get to in a minute), I noticed that yesterday, September 23, was the sixty-fifth birthday of The Boss, Bruce Springsteen.  This would not usually set me off but I should have mentioned it yesterday…I just found out that, aside from country star Clint Black (who shares a birthday with my eldest on February 4th), Mr. Springsteen is one of a handful of famous New Jerseyans that come from the exact same hospital that I was born in, Monmouth Medical Center in beautiful Long Branch, NJ.  Talk about a small universe…many happy more to Bruce!!!

———————————————————–

As for today, September 24th, it would have been the birthday of late puppeteer Jim Henson (“The Muppets”) (1936-1990), late singer and famous wife Linda McCartney (1941-1998), former football great “Mean” Joe Greene (1946), late comedian/voice actor Phil Hartman (“The Simpsons”, among his work) (1948-1998), former “Hercules” in TV, Kevin Sorbo was born in 1958, and WWE heiress Stephanie McMahon was born in 1976.

# CCXXXVI…Dual Milestones (200th Post & Fan’s 30th)…

Today not only marks the official first day of Autumn but it is also the thirtieth birthday of a fan of this blog…a young, strong-willed woman named Bibi, who just happens to work in my industry.  A fan of this blog since I gave her the information, Bibi is a no-nonsense, go-getter who also happens to be a fan of comic books (maybe even more than my own fandom, which has decreased in recent years), as made evident by our conversations about things like the upcoming seasons of “Arrow” and “The Flash”, among others.

To Bibi, have a blessed happy birthday and many happy more…

As for your birthday twins, we will start the list with former L.A. Dodgers manager, Tommy Lasorda (1927), 80s one-hit wonder Toni Basil (song “Oh, Mickey) was born in 1943, former vocalist for the 80s hair band Whitesnake, Mr. David Coverdale was born in 1951, actress/singer Shari Belafonte (1954), actress/singer Debby Boone (1956), and opera star Andrea Bocelli was born in 1958.

Also born today are former singer for The Runaways (and solo artist) Joan Jett was born in 1958, former “Joanie Loves Chaci” and “Charles in Charge” star Scott Baio was born in 1960, actresses Bonnie Hunt and Catherine Oxenberg were born in 1961, actor/rapper Mystikal was born in 1970, and everyone’s favorite “Supergirl”, Smallville‘s Laura Vandervoort turns 30 today, too (1984).

Have a beautiful birthday, Bibi…and, to all others, carpe diem…

# CCXXXV…”Flash” of Brilliance…

I rarely highlight the younger people on the birthday list but today’s post is about up-and-coming actress Danielle Panabaker, who (aside from being in movies like Sky High and 2009’s Friday the 13th) will be portraying Dr. Caitlin Snow on the upcoming series, The Flash, born on this date in 1987.  She has already appeared in Arrow and I, like most of the internet-savvy readers, have seen the pilot episode…looking forward to this neophyte’s work in the future (especially if the comic book universe provides her upgrade).

Today is also the birthday of former MLB star Duke Snider (1926-2011), 60s Batman (and “mayor” of Quahog of “Family Guy”) Adam West was born in 1928, actor David McCallum (NCIS) was born in 1933, singer Bill Medley of The Righteous Brothers turns 74 today (1940), the late, rotund Cass Elliot (The Mamas and the Papas) was born in 1941 (1941-1974), former MLB star turned broadcaster Joe Morgan (1943), and actor Jeremy Irons was born in 1948.

Also, the voice of Pumbaa in The Lion King, actor Ernie Sabella was born in 1949, former The Runaways guitarist and solo icon Lita Ford (1958), chef Mario Batali (1960), country legendary diva Trisha Yearwood (1964), and talk show icon Jimmy Fallon celebrates his 40th today (1974).

Until Monday’s monumental 200th (this is Dal’s 199th)…

# CCXXXIV…Feeding My Daughter’s Obsessions…

Today is a date that I can truly say fits one of my youngest daughter’s likes:  it is the 49th birthday of the creator of Sonic the Hedgehog, Mr. Yuji Naka, born on this date in 1965.  He is also credited with the creation of the Phantasy Star video game series as well as being a programmer for the classic game Ghouls & Ghosts.  He has been in the industry since 1983 and I (as well as my daughter) wish him nothing but continued success.

Also on the menu of today’s “twins” are country music legend Hank Williams, Sr. (1923-1953), Planet of the Apes (the original) star Roddy McDowall (1928-1998), legendary actress Anne Bancroft (1931-2005), The Jeffersons‘ Mr. Bentley, actor Paul Benedict (1938-2008), and basketball coach of legend, Mr. Phil Jackson was born in 1945.

Late comedian John Ritter (1948-2003), comedienne Rita Rudner (1953), puppeteer pariah Kevin Clash (played Elmo, among others) was born in 1960, King’s X guitarist Ty Tabor (1961), and former Red Ranger Austin St. John was born in 1974.

Be back soon…and…

# CCXXXIII…Hometown Excursion, Abridged…

Due to the fact that I’m doing this from my phone, I would just like to convey my utmost thanks to all the friends and family that I was privileged to hang with this past weekend in Jersey City. I saw a lot of old friends (Jadi, Timmy, Rob and Denise, and Mikey) as well as new ones (mostly their children) and handed out a lot of cards (for networking this blog).

Also, a lot has changed in my hometown…mostly business relocations and empty lots but it’s still my hometown.

Hanging with both of my kids at my ex-wife’s house (thank you, Jo) was the pinnacle of the weekend and I cannot wait to do it all again (though I don’t know when that will be, exactly)…
