# CCXX…”18 and Life”…

{IN LOVING MEMORY:  Eileen Houmis (10/7/46 – 8/12/11)…forever loved and missed greatly!!}

Please excuse the bad pun title…my niece, Deanna, just happens to be celebrating that particular milestone this year.  Eighteen years have flown by, being that I remember when she was knee-high to a grasshopper, and she is coming into her own in this world…but still young enough to have options.  A super person to be around with an infectious humor about her, I hope she enjoys her birthday and has many happy more!

As far as her “twins” go, today is also the birthday of former country star/host of “Hee Haw”, Buck Owens (1929-2006), late game show emcee Charlie O’Donnell (1932-2010), the envy of all tanning salons, actor George Hamilton (1939), Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler [sorry, no repeat joke from last year] was born in 1949, former Culture Club guitarist/keyboardist Roy Hay (1961), and rapper Sir Mix-a-Lot, whose “Baby Got Back” became sort of an anthem in certain communities, was born in 1963.

To finish the list, we have former tennis pro Pete Sampras (1971), ESPN analyst/former wrestler Jonathan Coachman and former NHLer Todd Marchant were both born in 1973, former New York Jet/Pittsburgh Steeler Plaxico Burress (1977) and actress Dominique Swain was born in 1980.

Also, since it happened yesterday, I would just like to give heartfelt condolences to the family of master comedian Robin Williams, who passed to the immortals’ plane at the young age of 63…an extinguished light that can never be replaced…
