# CXCVII…”There’s No Place Like Home”…

That was one of the lines made famous by our honoree today, Mrs. Judy Garland, who, as a seventeen-year-old in a fickle business, made history with her portrayal of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.  The mother of entertainer Liza Minnelli, she had a singing career, as well, which carried into her acting career.  A classy lady whose voice will be missed (1922-1969)…

Also on today’s list are; Hattie McDaniel, the first African-American to win an Academy Award (for her role as Mammy in Gone With the Wind) (1895-1952), the creator of “Where The Wild Things Are”, Mr. Maurice Sendak (1928-2012), Yankee broadcaster (and former Met) Ken Singleton (1947), former NFL quarterback turned analyst Dan Fouts (1951), former Senator (and current paraiah) Eliot Spitzer (1959), and actresses Gina Gershon (1962) and Elizabeth Hurley (1965).

Death metal horns up for former Morbid Angel guitarist Eric Rutan (1971) and current leader of the Polish death metal group Behemoth, Mr. Adam Dorski (aka Nergal), who was born in 1977.  Finishing the list are skater Tara Lapinski (1982) and actress Leelee Sobieski, who played in Eyes Wide Shut, born in 1983.

I keep chanting the title…but nothing happens…
