# CLXXXI…Quick Birthday Post for My Brother…

On this 29th day of April, we find my older brother Ed celebrating his 46th birthday today.  As usual, I could bore you all with embarrassing memories of our childhood and all the trials and tribulations that we all faced in the eras before computers but the only thing I can say about that is that we all survived being raised “old school” and he is no exception; a skilled craftsman that is capable of anything and I hope he has many happy more.

For his list, former band leader Duke Ellington (1899-1974), singer Celeste Holm (1917-2012), The Coasters’ Carl Gardner (1928-2011), “The Adventures of Lois and Clark”s Lane Smith (1936-2005), modern pariah Bernie Madoff (1938), and singer Tommy James (1947).

Also, comedian Jerry Seinfeld was born in 1954, actress Kate Mulgrew from “Star Trek: Voyager” was born in 1955, multifaceted actor Daniel Day-Lewis (1957), actresses Michelle Pfeiffer and Eve Plumb (Jan from “The Brady Bunch”) were born in 1958, Testament bassist Greg Christian (1966), rap star Master P (1967), Wilson Phillips vocalist Carnie Wilson (1968), tennis star Andre Agassi and actress Uma Thurman were born in 1970, and actor Sam Jones III (from “Smallville”) was born in 1979.

This abbreviated post is for my brother…/,,,/ ROCK ON ED \,,,\

# CLXXIX…Odd Day’s Birthday…”Whose”, I Wonder…

I apologize for the weird pun in today’s title, as it refers to the funny comedian Ryan Stiles, from “Whose Line Is It Anyway?,” and “Two and a Half Men”, who was born today in 1959.  If you haven’t seen “Whose Line”, you are sorely missing out on one of the best (and only) improv comedy show on TV.  Along with comedians like Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles is the tallest one usually on the show and he is just as funny as Robin Williams when it comes to improv.  His antics on the show cannot be described, however, as you would have to watch them to experience how funny he really is.

Also celebrating this April 22 are; late actor Eddie Albert (“Green Acres”) (1906-2005), late 50s heartthrob Bettie Page (1923-2008), late television producer (and Tori’s father) Aaron Spelling (1923-2006), actress/comedienne Charlotte Rae from “The Facts of Life” (now I really feel old LOL) was born in 1926 and “The Rhinestone Cowboy” himself, Mr. Glen Campbell was born in 1936.

Today is also the birthday of the BEST actor to portray The Joker in ANY Batman film ever, Jack Nicholson, who was born in 1937, cult film producer John Waters (“Hairspray” among others) (1946), 70s rock legend Peter Frampton (1950), and “Meatballs” child actor (now producer) Chris Makepeace was born in 1964.

The final three names in today’s list are; “Magic City” and “The Watchmen” star Jeffrey Dean Morgan (1966), “Tess Mercer/Luthor” from the final seasons of “Smallville” and musician Cassidy Freeman was born in 1982 and “Pineapple Express” and “Zombieland” actress Amber Heard (1986).

I hope you all have enjoyed this “puff piece”, as I am not quite sure what or when I will be here again…with my all-time record for views in a month about to fall (only 50 or so to go in the next eight days)…anything is possible!!!!!

# CLXXVIII…To All of My Birthday Twins…

This day, April 19th, was the day that saw my birth 43 years ago in the small town of Long Branch, New Jersey…which is my hometown, regardless of the fact that I was raised in Jersey City.  That having been said, this is the one day of the year where I, and all my birthday twins, feel that special glow that comes whenever people say those two magic words.  I am especially feeling the glow due to the fact that, upon the stroke of midnight, my eldest daughter was the first to utter those words to me (which I am very proud of)!

Without boring you any further, I present the list of ALL of my twins, so buckle up (it’s a long list):  the “Untouchables” leader, former lawman Eliot Ness (1903-1957), former Wyatt Earp on TV, Hugh O’Brian (1925), Dick Sargent from the old “Bewitched” series (1930-1994), late bombshell Jayne Mansfield (1933-1967), and comedian Dudley Moore, who portrayed “Arthur” in the movies, among others (1935-2002).

The ubiquitous and very funny Tim Curry, from “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”, was born in 1946, Paloma Picasso was born in 1949, rock music producer Bob Rock (1954), former Black Sabbath singer Tony Martin (1957), former MLB greats Frank Viola (1960) and Spike Owen (1961), former Indianapolis 500 winner Al Unser, Jr. (1962), and music producer Suge Knight was born in 1965.

Completing the twins’ list are the very talented actress Ashley Judd (1968), West Coast Choppers’ mogul Jesse James (1969), Within Temptation guitarist Ruud Jolie (1976), the also ubiquitous and super-talented James Franco (1978), actress Kate Hudson (1979); a Jedi salute to Hayden Christensen (1981); the talented “hairbag” of the NFL, Troy Polamalu (1981) and a triad of MLB stars born in the same year, Zack Duke, Joe Mauer and Curtis Thigpen, all born in 1983.

Thank you all for reading and I hope you all enjoy my birthday…I’m sure that I will!!!!

# CLXXVII…Another Post for Number One…

This post is for the fact that my Number One group, Dream Theater, has a member that is celebrating a birthday today…the day before mine, which I find to be weird, as it’s been associated with another person from my past (no there will be no further details on that).  The member in question is the current drummer, Mike Mangini, who has done a masterful job, in my humble opinion, replacing original drummer Mike Portnoy.  I do enjoy the newer stuff as much as the older songs, so that is now on record!

For today’s list we start with another famous musician, Tony Mottola (1918-2004), the star of the classic Disney movie, “The Parent Trap”, Hayley Mills (1946), comedian/actor supreme James Woods (1947), comedian Rick Moranis (1953), actor Eric Roberts (1956), and actress Jane Leeves from “Frasier” was born in 1961.

Super ventriloquist Jeff Dunham was born in 1962, Mike Mangini was born in 1963, talk show host Conan O’Brien (1963), actor/director Eli Roth (1972), and actress Melissa Joan Hart was born in 1976.

I’ll be back tomorrow…

# CLXXVI…Former Co-worker, Part II…and Brother’s Milestone…

Sometimes I find it weirdly ironic when people share the same birthday on the calendar.  In light of that, it was odd when I found out another former co-worker shares the same birthday as my brother, Fred, who turns a young half century today (just like the Ford Mustang).  The lady in question, Suzana Soares, is a very lighthearted person whose light was one of the bright spots when I worked for my former boss (there weren’t that many, as I may have told you) and I would like to start this post mentioning her specifically because of my post on the 10th, in which I told you about another ex-workmate.

My brother, Fred, however, obviously needs to be mentioned because I knew it was his birthday long before I met her.  Of course I could bore you all with childhood memories of my brother, some good and some bad, but I won’t embarrass either of us with tales of yesteryear…only that I wish my brother many happy more birthdays to come.

On today’s list of their birthday twins…late journalist Harry Reasoner (1923-1991), late music producer and TV pioneer Don Kirshner (1934-2011), 80s keyboard virtuoso Jan Hammer (“Miami Vice”) was born in 1948, WWE icon “Rowdy” Roddy Piper (1954), southpaw NFL quarterback/analyst (and New Yorker) Boomer Esiason (1961) and former NHL great Ken Daneyko (1964).

Former Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan was born in 1964, former MLB star Marquis Grissom (1967), singer Liz Phair (1967), rapper/actor Redman (1970), the talented actress Jennifer Garner (loved her portrayal of Elektra) was born in 1972, singer Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice (1974) and the actress who starred in the American version of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”, Miss Rooney Mara was born in 1985.

On this day which the number 50 has been prevalent, I would like to close by saying that I will be back for two days in a row…as there will be another musical post about a celebrator tomorrow…and, of course, we all know what Saturday’s post will entail…

# CLXXV…Birthday Post for Another Legend…

On this, the fourteenth day of my birth month, I’ve always known since I was a kid that it is the birthday of the greatest baseball player that is NOT currently in the Hall of Fame, Mr. Pete Rose (1941).  However, it has come to my knowledge that it is also the birthday of a musical legend…former Deep Purple guitarist and co-creator of folksy rock group Blackmore’s Night, Richie Blackmore (1945).  If you haven’t checked them out yet, you’re in for a treat, because they are unlike anything you’ve ever heard.  Think of musical selections from a bygone era…like the Middle Ages…and add every instrument from guitar to mandolin to tambourines, etc. and that sums them up.

Also, on today’s birthday list are country superstar Loretta Lynn (1932), comedian Brad Garrett (1960), former Atlanta Braves’ superstars David Justice and Greg Maddux, both born in 1966, comedian Anthony Michael Hall (1968), actor Adrian Brody was born in 1973, WWE Hall of Famer Lita Dumas (1975) and multi-talented actress Sarah Michelle Gellar was born in 1977.

I would apologize for the abbreviated post but I do have a career, you know…
