# CXL (140)…Little-known birthday of a HUGE name…

On December 15, 1919, a gentleman named Max Yasgur was born in New York City.  The reason that his name should be most significant to you, my reader(s) is that, without him, the iconic Woodstock festival in 1969 may never have happened.  For you see, it was Max Yasgur’s dairy farm that was the site of the three-day “hippie” rock show that would break barriers for that generation.  It was also his farm that, against the wishes of the townsfolk of Bethel, New York, gave the world the most groundbreaking collaboration of rock stars ever assembled (unmatched since).  {Max B. Yasgur: 12/15/19 – 2/9/73}

Also born on this date are:  rock-n-roll DJ pioneer Alan Freed (1921-1965), comedian Tim Conway (1933), Cindy Birdsong (The Supremes/Labelle) {1939}, frontman drummer Dave Clark (of “The Dave Clark Five”) {1942}, drummer Carmine Appice of Vanilla Fudge (1946), actor-extraordinaire Don Johnson (1949), The Clash’s bassist Paul Simonon (1955) and Stryper bassist Tim Gaines was born in 1962.

Furthering the list are actress Helen Slater (“Supergirl”) {1963}, former Met/Red Sox first baseman Mo Vaughn (1967), actor Garrett Wong, who played Ensign Harry Kim on the “Star Trek: Voyager” series (1968), a very talented actor named Michael Shanks (who is best known to me as “Hawkman” from Smallville’s last two seasons) was born in 1970 and TNA wrestling/reality show superstar Eric Young (1979).

This is my 98th post on this blog (the previous one had 42)…I would like some opinions on if I should have a special post for my 100th (nice timing LOL).  Drop a line to my e-mail (dalsharq2445@gmail.com) or stop by “Dal’s Board” on Facebook…let me know before my next post (not sure when…maybe the 18th for a birthday post or the 20th for the “Anniversary”)!
